Judaica for the home
Chasia is a modern Judaica line created in honor of the Jewish ancestors who gave us the customs, cultures, traditions, ceremonies, beliefs, rituals, foods, and connections we all live in the beauty of, and will carry into the next generations. Jewish existence is resistance and as we continue to show how beautifully resilient we are, I have drawn on my deep connections to my Jewry and the symbols that give me the strength to pride on. I recently learned that my grandmother, my savta, was named Chasia Dvora but when she and her family fled the oppressive and dangerous country they left, and landed in America in 1924, that she changed her name, along with every other member of her family. I prefer to honor her original name, (clear your throat as you say the word and you will get the correct sound of the ch) Chasia Dvora, as I believe in the preservation and continuation of our identities and self. To celebrate and honor the pride and roots of our Jewish ethnicity, cultures, and religious beliefs with the Chasia line, my hope is that we can be well adorned with an adapted but well rooted take on the Judaica we wear and ceremonially use. Chasia is how I share my love of being a Jew with all of you. It was and is my honor to be Chasia’s little mamaleh.
